The Key to Internet Radio
Internet streaming radio may not broadcast radio waves, but it is still a great way to reach listeners. If you're already on the air as an FM or AM radio station, you can use internet streaming to reach listeners outside of your normal coverage area or to provide additional content that won't fit into your on-air schedule. If you're on your way to starting a radio station, you can stream as a way to build an audience and train volunteers in the time leading up to your first broadcast.
However, it can be difficult for small radio stations to get the information and equipment they need to start their internet broadcasts. This month, Prometheus is launching The Key to Internet Radio to overcome the main barriers to internet streaming and remote broadcasting for community stations. The ultimate project goal is to compile a host of resources and software in an easily accessible form on a USB key.
